T7700, Vista, Sony SZ laptop

When selecting a new network (Connect to...) which I
know is functional, this unit will say "...taking longer
than usual..." and then "...cannot...". Diagnosis
generates no result.

HOWEVER -- the signal strength meter shows that it
quickly connects, and in fact wireless apps work.

What idiotic error did I make in setting this up?

Hank

Using Vista as your OS ?

Seriously, someday when the bugs are ironed out and all, I want to
sort out the seemingly crazy and complicated Vista approach to
wireless networking security.

The few times I had to help somebody with Vista connect to our system,
I ran into similar stupidity. Warnings that the connection was not
complete, something. Of course the actual connection worked fine,
there was no actual problem apart from being misled by the Vista
warning.

Of course, I'm experienced in XP, so I sort of expected Vista to be
similar, but noooooo...
