can i connect to a one-way satellite connection and leave kazaa online
downloading with no modem connected )only accepting incoming communications
and not sending any out).

Also, the same goes for listening to online radio stations, can i leave the
modem out of the process, (once the connection to the source has been made?)

Many Thanks

Stuart

Unlikely - communications is a two way process and when one half stops
responding, the other side will stop sending. How would you suggest that you
tell them what you want to download and whether data arrives, without a
return path ?

And if you use Kazaa too much, pretty much all the satellite companies will
kick you off for excessive use - satellite is a limited commodity, and
certainly not a replacement for landline P2P activities.

yeah thats what i thought, was hoping it wouldnt be the case tho.

I will have to put up with it then i suppose, not much else i can do as no
ADSL, no cable, so no choice.
ADSL is in my area, but we are too far away from teh exchange. You can spit
while standing on the bluddy exchange and i bet you would get further than
ADSL does!

eh?

only COMPLETE idiots still buy stuff at the barras these days.
that's another rant though.

nah, having looked at
http://www.biscit.net/satellite_broadband.html and their prices,
the op would be better sticking with 56k and just buying whatever
it was they were gonna download. assuming it's buyable. which is
isn't, of course, because downloading that would be illegal.

the bt phone line i have is crap, always getting cut off and not always
getting 40.0kbps connections,

i just want something faster and in newchurch, i aint likely to see anything
other than satellite broadband.

i would just like to listen to internet radio stations, and generally have
the broadband experience. Not poxy 4.0k downloads, (which is my maximum, on
a good day)

So why not a 2-way satellite link - is it the cost?
