Anyone on satellite broadband?

How costly? and does it work OK.

Its OK if you want to just do HTTP downloads at respectable rates, and most
systems rely on 56k or ISDN for the uplink.
If you like P2P dont even bother.

Avoid the two way services, it is oversubscribed and useless for all but
email and http downloads.

Latency is far too high for many practical uses including gaming, VPN,
Telnet, FTP, telephony and any other application that is dependent on timely
two-way communication.

The customer service on the BT offering is from the evidence I have is
almost non-existent, the download speeds can drop to as low as 26kbps and
the upload speeds even worse.

One way satelite is probably half as bad but still only ok for http and
email.

All but the customer service issues were known in the eighties as this is
rehashed old technology, imho it is selling old clothes as new and is a
complete con.

My advice is look for another alternative and save your money.
