Hi you all,
it sounds like I have the same problem as Paul here above has, or something
similar.
I have a laptop toshiba satellite 2540 CDT and I am struggling to make it
work with a d-link cardbus dwl -650+ wirless.
My problem is that when I insert the card into the slot, the system get
frozen, both if I insert it before the booting or while the notebook is on.
I have read the manual of the satellite and noticed that the slot is
compatible with card type II and III *2.01 version*
On the back of the carbus there is this parameter: F/W 1.9
I guess this means FirmWare 1.9 .... right?
So is my understanding that this is a type I card (1.9), and this should be
the reason why my notebook cannot boot with this adapter in.
If what I wrote has got any sense, could someone please confirm it? I
really am not comfortable with this kind of stuff and just making attempts,
as nobody seems to be able to solve the problem, neither the shop where I
have bought the card adapter, nor D-Link support, nor Toshiba support.
In case this is really what's happening to me, is there anyone who knows a
Wireless PCMCIA that could fit my slot (2.01 version)?
I should use it to connect wirelessely to a desktop (D-Link DWL -520+) and
to a Modem Router ADSL; the standard is 802.11b.

Thank you so much

ciao
elena
