SAR715PV CPU Utilization

Hi,
I have recently purchased a Solwise SAR715PV ADSL Modem/Router and am
having a problem with it.
The router in question has a built in VPN server which may well be the cause
of the problem so I'm interested if anyone has had any experience with this
router.

I first noticed there was a problem when using videophone software when
periodically the streaming audio and video just grinds to a halt followed a
few seconds later by lots of garbled audio and missed video frames.

I downloaded a diagnostic software called Netspeedo which indicates the CPU
utilization on the router is at 100% when the system stops working and goes
back to 4%~ when things return to normal.

I'm wondering if anyone else has had a problem like this with this
particular router ?

The Firmware the router is running is "pheenet_ddns_030627", although this
is not quite the latest version I am led to believe that the latest version
for some reason doesn't allow the router clock to synchronize to an NTP time
source which I think is a necessity for a reliable VPN.

There is no problem with the ADSL connection or line because I have my old
trusty (VPNless) SAR715 which works absolutely fine with videophone etc etc.

Your comments are welcome !

Hi

Best advice is Upgrade it, as I have seen this as well and after upgrading
all is ok. I dont use NTP on the router as my gateway does this for my
network.

Hi Bit of an update. Have you got dynDNS setup ? as this is the cause of the
cycling I have had on a PV. Clear the entry and save twice. as saving once
it kept cycling and its now solid after the second save.

Hi,
I do not run DynDNS here Ian so its looking like I'll have to perform a
firmware upgrade at the weekend and hope that cures my problems.

Thanks for the response - I'll let you know what
happens........................
