I'm a Ricochet user in San Diego and last Wednesday the network went
down. Poletop link was still working, but no-go on an ISP connection.
Same story with the dialup connection. The tech support number turned
into a "send us an email" message, Corp number the same; and the San
Diego tech support physical site had warm bodies in it, with a gaggle
of confused Ricochet customers milling outside. They said they no
longer provided support for Ricochet and had no comment on what's up.
Off to an internet cafe where a quick surf revealed that their Denver
HQ looked like Whoville the night after the Grinch visited. Not a
clue at the Ricochet website. A dozen phone calls to local Ricochet
vendors and finally an insider said there's major corporate
restructuring going on after a financing deal fell through, supposedly
this triggered a hardware problem which would take days to fix, and
the network would be back up Monday (today).
Lo and behold the network is back up today, for how long who knows?
Approximately 6,000 customers generate $240,000 a month revenue; is
that enough to keep even San Diego and Denver lit up?
Only time will tell . . .
