Samba vs OpenAFS?

I just heard about OpenAFS and I was wondering whether it would be
able to replace Samba or Windows Networks?. Based on what I have read
it looks a much more robust and proffesional software but before
wasting hundreds of hours I would appreciate any advice/experience on
this issue. Thanks!
