Samba upgrade question

I'm using the default Samba version 2.2.7a that comes with redhat 9 and it
works fine. I would like to upgrade to Samba 3.0. I've downloaded the rpm
for redhat 9 from Samba.org

My question is this: Should I first remove the older samba rpm and then
install 3.0? Or will the install for the 3.0 upgrade simply replace the
older version.

Generally with Linux what is the best process to install updates.

Thanks!

Stan

That is a distro-specific question not pertaining to networking at all.
If you want help on Red Hat's rpm utility, you might seek your answer in
Red Hat's documentation, Web forums, mailing lists, or in *redhat*
newsgroups.
