Hello,

I have a Samba server set up and running on a Fedora Core box, which is
pat of a LAN. Connected to this LAN is a separate Windows XP box.

I can logon to the Fedora box and see the shared drive. I can even mount
it through Gnome. Here's what happens next:

1. I open two windows on Fed box, one with the file I wish to copy to
XP, and the other as a SMB://ipaddress of the Windows XP.

2. I drag and drop the file I want to copy from teh first window to the
second.

3. I get prompted for the userid and password on the target (XP) box.

4. When ID and p/w are typed in, the file copies across no problem.

HOWEVER, when I try to do the same thing again, I get a "You do not have
the permissions necessary to view the contents of "smb://ipaddress".",
and the file will not copy. By this point I can't access the shared
folders on the XP box, never mind copy anything into them.

An hour later I tried again, and this time the copy works fine!

Is there any way you know to get round this? Do I have to specify
something in the SMB.CONF file?

Any explanation of why you think this is happening would also be greatly
received.

I'm quite a newbie at this, but I'm sure that others must have had this
problem at some point.

All help is much appreciated.

regards,

Steven.
