I want to create a folder on mandrake linux 9.1 and share it with samba so
other windows computers can save and read files in that folder.
I am new to linux, so please tell me what I have to do step by step as if
you are talking to an idiot.
I have installed the SAMBA server on mandrake and its running, but I do now
know how to make a shared folder and give the correct permitions. On the
windows XP machine I see a Mdkgroup workgroup, but when I try to get into
the workgroup I get :
" \\locanhost not acessible. You might not have the
permission to use this network resource. COntact the administrator of this
server to find out if you have access permissions.
You were not connected because a duplicate name exists on the network. Go to
the system in control panel to change the name and try again"
