I have Samba running on Suse 9.2. If my XP laptop is turned on before
Linux, I can connect via Samba, but if linux is booted first, before the
laptop, I cannot connect.

Any thoughts?

I'm guessing you're trying to use Network Neighbourhood to connect.

In Windows, try using `\\ServerName\ShareName` from Start,Run. Otherwise,
you'll need to be more specific about your problem.

You may want to read up on NetBIOS and browser elections.
