To start Windows 98 in Safe mode, use either of these methods:
1. Hold down the CTRL key until the Windows Startup Menu appears,
enter the number for Safe mode, and press ENTER.
or:
2. Press F8 when the "Starting Windows" message appears, enter the
number for Safe mode from the Startup Menu, and press ENTER.
