Hi I have a 802.11g router.

Is it safe (for me) to have it on my desk?

Medically, I use the PC probably 3 hours a day i'm quite happy to have
it on my desk but not if its medically unsafe. Distance wise its about
70 cms away from me, 80 cms from the aerials.

The desk may get a bit warm, opportune hackers may get in - even with WEP
enabled, your electric bill will be higher. You may see a predominance of
female in your offspring.

However its probably better than sitting adjacent than a mobile phone mast.

It would be interesting to get a field strength meter and actually see what
the fields were.

In the real world I doubt that there would be a problem. You're probably
worse at risk from RSI, back problems and radiation from the CRT.

Buy a longer patch lead and move it away from you if it concerns you.
Are you sure that in other respects (posture, etc.) you are following
medical best practice?

Personally I would do anything to distance myself from any
transmitting equipment whenever possible - it just seems sensible.

These have been known to cause blindness.
However, if you avoid falling on the antennae, you should be fine.

I thought that it was masturbation that caused blindness?

Given the power levels involved, you're fine. However, for optimal coverage
it's best to mount it as high as practical.

You probably have a higher risk of being struck by lightning, being trampled
to death by stampeding elephants, or suffering a heart attack on winning the
lottery.

In the UK - quite right, putting the radio emissions fairly safe (maybe in
the short term).

In addition to the possibility of poking your eyes out with the antennas,
watch you dont leave the AP on your chair ;-)
