RTL8180 wireless lan problems

having strange problems with my pci realtek rtl8180 based card.

i'm running redhat 9, 2.4.20-8 kernel and the realtek driver 1.5 from their
website (rtl8180_linuxdrv_v15_rh90). i built the driver from the source
code and configured

it works fine but occasionally it will just die for awhile. it lags for a
long time. eventually it recovers.

if i enable debugging at look at the log file, The only thing I see is
this:

Is the problem timing related? Is there something I can tweak? Any thing at
the bios level? Please help!
