I'm trying to configure rsh and rlogin to not ask the password for a
user on specific host. However, the normal configuration for that user
account in .rhosts (or even the /etc/hosts.equiv) appears to not be
working! It stills asking the password!!

I'm trying do this in a RedHat Advanced Server 2.1 but with the same
configuration I did it work in RedHat 8.0.

Do I miss something? Any hint about it?

thanks,
Pedro Salazar.

It works for me with Redhat 7.3 and Redhat 9. All I did was put the
machine names into /etc/hosts.equiv and that's it,

I assume your using static IP addresses and that you've specified the IP
aliases in /etc/hosts, i.e.

192.168.1.1 langley
192.168.1.2 dreadnought
192.168.1.3 saratoga
192.168.1.4 ranger
192.168.1.5 yorktown
192.168.1.6 enterprise
192.168.1.7 wasp
192.168.1.8 hornet
192.168.1.9 essex
192.168.1.10 yorktown2
192.168.1.11 intrepid
