This is my setup:

Linux router --- Win2k3 RRAS --- WinXP

From Win2k3, I can connect to the Internet.
From WinXP, I cannot connect to the Internet.

Win2k3 has two NICs.

NIC 1
IP: 192.168.1.10
Sub: 255.255.255.0
Dg: 192.168.1.1

NIC 2
IP: 172.16.1.1
Sub: 255.255.255.0
Dg: blank

WinXP
IP: 172.16.1.10
Sub: 255.255.255.0
DG: 172.16.1.1

Win2k3 and WinXP can ping one another.

What else do I need in order to connect to the Internet from WinXP?

Thank you.

The basic problem is that the Linux router doesn't know where the XP
machine is! It knows about your RRAS server because it has an interface in
that subnet. But it has no way of knowing where the 172.16 subnet is.

You will either have to give the Linux router more routing info so that
it knows it can reach 172.16 through your RRAS router, or you will have to
enable NAT on your RRAS router (so that all traffic from 172.16 uses the
server's 192.168.1 address).

Robert, Bill,

Thank you for your replies.

As I don't have control of the Linux machine, I've enabled NAT.

Bill, as usual, you've hit the nail right on. You and O'Reilly would make a
pile of money if you wrote a Win2k3 Networking Cookbook. :-)
