RRAS firewall or Windows Firewall

hi,
i've just found out that the RRAS basic firewall cannot be configured
for a port range. this is a real show stopper for me so i am
considering going back to the Windows Firewall, which can solve the
problem by allowing all ports for the application in question.
i know you can use batch scripts with RRAS but it still seems a bit
crap to have individual port entries (e.g. an FTP server needs many
ports for passive), when all you want to specify is a range. i guess
that's why they call it 'basic' !!

my question is this... is the RRAS basic firewall any more or less
secure than the windows firewall, or are they functionally equivalent?
i originally set up RRAS for a VPN but that isn't needed now.

thanks
tim
p.s. i know a hardware firewall has advantages but i'm sticking with
software, thanks.
