I am trying to make my windows 2003 standard server a VPN box. I want the
clients that connect remotely to the VPN to be authenticated via Active
Directory. The DC is on another computer all together seperate from the RRAS
server, due to suggestions from other members on this board and Microsoft.

The RRAS server is behind a linksys router so the interface that it has is
private. I do not want to make this computer a router as I already have the
linksys. I am wondering what my options are on configuration. I have
checked out http://www.howtonetworking.com/sitemap.htm and the articles that
I found about VPN setup all talk about making the computer a router.

Can someone please help me out here?

If you don't want to setup the server as Router, you just enable one NIC. This link may help.

How to setup VPN To create VPN connection, open Networking Connections>New Connection Wizard>Set up an advanced connection>Accept incoming connections, then follow the ...

I only have one NIC enabled now. I have tried to setup the VPN this way but
become unsure about it when it comes to the part about selecting the device
for incoming connections.

I would have thought that I would see my ethernet card in this screen so that
I could get the incoming connections to go to that interface ( the nic that
is enabled). However, the two interfaces that it gives me are the V90 modem
that is in the machine or the Direct Parallel (LPT1) option.

Why would it only give these two and not my ethernet card? Should I pick the
Direct Parallel? Little confused here.

You are obviously using the wrong option in the wizard if you see those
options.

All you need to do is enable remote access.
