Hello all,

I'm receiving RPC errors when attempting to registerdns, or obtain DHCP
info. The network is a small non-routed environment. I've been working on
this for the last 2 days and have gone through the MS KB thoroughly. I am
able to run nslookup servername, as well as resolve external domain names. I
can logon to the domain from the machine having the issue. No DNS or FRS
errors on the DC. The exact error when running ipconfig /registerdns is
Registration of DNS records failed: The RPC server is unavailable. Secure
and unsecure updates are allowed.
DNS/DC server is Server 2003 with SP1 and all updates. Telnet to port 135
between the DC and workstation is working. Ping -a ip address and ping
machine name resolves correctly.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Hough

Run the Netdiag /debug command on the server in question to check any errors. Also check these articles - .RPC Server is Unavailable
