Routing to ISA proxy

I have two windows 2003 servers: a DC (MAINSERVER) and a proxy with ISA
(PROXYSERVER). My questions are related configuration:
1) TCP/IP gateway in client computer must point to mainserver? Should I set
proxyserver as secondary gateway?
2) What changes do I have to set in mainserver to route ip addresses outline
LAN (example: www.google.com) to the proxy server?

TIA,
Kirsten

No. At least "no" from what I can barely interpret from that. What is
"mainserver" and why would that have anything to do with the network
topology?

That depends on whether you are running the server as a SecureNAT Client, a
Web Proxy Client, or a Firewall Client.

1. Web Proxy Clients "find" the ISA via the browser's proxy settings
2. Firewall Clients "find" the ISA via having the Firewall Client Software
installed
3. SecureNAT Clients "find" the ISA by having ISA in the LAN's Routing Path.
That does not always mean the ISA is the Default Gateway of the
Client,...that is only the case in a simple single subnet LAN.

A machine can be a Web Proxy Client and a Firewall Client at the same time.
A machine can also be a Web Proxy Client and a SecureNAT Client at the same
time. It is extremely difficult and very "limited" for a machine to be a
Firewall Client and a SecureNAT Client at the same time or try to be all
three at the same time.
