Routing and Remote Access

Hi All,

I noticed under Routing and Remote Access that our
dialup connection is listed. In acouple of places one under
network Interface and another under NAT. In NAT its
defined to have encrypted password on our connection. This
has to do with the firewall configuration, correct? I have
not setup firewall protection so how did NAT get setup?
Since we are using a Dialup modem to call our ISP and
send/retreive emails do we need NAT?

No, you don't need it for that.
And even for allowing internet access to clients, there is ICS
(however NAT is a better option over ICS)

NAT/Firwall will come up when you set up RRAS.
Unless you configure the interface that appear under NAT/Firwall,
it won't make any problem to use it the way you want to use
without setting up NAT.

SO are you facing any problem presently? even if answer is 'yes'
it would not be just because the connection appears under NAT
(unless someone has migled with the settings under NAT.)

You will need to set up NAT only when you want the cleints too have
access to internet through the modem connection.
