router vs non-router AP's (FAQ question from newbie -- using Buffalo WLA-G54)

I bought the Buffalo WLA-G54 this past Spring here in Japan. It is a
non-router version. What am I missing? Does this mean it doesn't have
its own DHCP server? Missing a switch, so I can't use it as a wired
switch -- only as a hub?

Any help is appreciated. By the way, is there an FAQ for this group?

Thanks,
Greg Conquest

Most likely it means the AP doesn't have NAT capabilities and therefore
can't use that AP alone to share an Internet connection (plug it into a
cable modem and have 3 wireless clients connect to the Internet). DHCP is
another feature it may or may not have... read the spec sheet.

Thanks John,
Not being able to host more than one client was the big drawback I was
looking for. I got a WBR-G54 to replace the WLA-G54. It has the router
included, and it's flashable to an English interface as well :-)

Greg

PS I have a followup question if someone could answer it for me, I'd
appreciate it. If I have a wireless AP with no router, and I put a
router upstream from it (cable modem ---- router ---- WiFi AP) Will
more than one client be able to use the WiFi AP then?

Thanks again.
