Are routers with switches build-in suppose to send data to all ports
and when a port sends data out it goes to all ports as well?

Thanks.

Hopefully not. That'd be a pretty effective performance cap.

What you described is a router with integrated "hub", with all the down-sides
that switches eliminated...

That's what I thought, I think I have a problem with my Linksys it says
"Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router with 4-Port Switch" (WRT54G)
I have a my cable Internet plugged in the WAN port, my computer on
port 1, my Playstation on port 3, and every time my Playstation sends
data/receives both lights flash, ports 1 and 3 simultaneously and my
packet sniffer on my computer sees the data, I tested it by playing a
Internet game and my sniffer gets flooded with UDP packets from the
GameSpy server. Could it be a settings problem, I have it set as a
gateway, but I think that's fine, weird.

Thanks for your help.

They're UDP packets? Perhaps that's why. Does it behave as expected
with TCP packets?

Oh, sorry TCP and UDP. I also see DNS lookups.

It sounds like your "switch" is really a hub.

BTW, one thing you try is to put in a real switch ahead of the one
you have now and see if it performs as it should. Switches can be
had for under 10 bucks now.

I don't know if it's working right or not but I pinged a server from
my Playstation and it worked fine, i didn't see any packets, but when
I run a game I see packets, Let me show you what I got.
This was seen from my computer playing midnight club 2,
http://home.nycap.rr.com/joshs/MC2.jpg (192.168.1.3 is my Playstation)
Now this was seen from my computer logging off from the SSX3 game
http://home.nycap.rr.com/joshs/SSX3.jpg
Now that last one, as you can see my Playstation is sending a DNS and
it's an Electronic Arts server but, it came to my computer.

Thanks.

How is your online gaming service configured for port forwarding? I'm
more familiar with Dlink routers rather than Linksys, but in Dlink
routers there are two ways to do port-forwarding. One way is a simple
static port forwarding, where one port is assigned to one LAN IP
address. The other way is a dynamic method called "Special Application"
which forwards ports to any of the LAN IP addresses, based on activity
from a triggering port. Since that triggering port can be coming from
anywhere within the LAN, it's probable that the router then simply
broadcasts these signals throughout the switch.

I see in my Dlink router that there is already several gaming services
preset in the Special Application section.

My gaming isn't configured, port forwarding is off and triggering, no
DMZ,
full firewall functions on, WLAN off and my game's run fine.
here's a picture of my port forwarding and my triggering.
