router to switch cable

Thanks again for previous help.. things are a lot clearer now.. however I
have seen somewhere that the cable between the router and the switch needs
to be crossover but that wasn't mentioned here... is that correct

it depends

a lot of kit is auto-selecting and will sort that out for itself

one port (usually the end one) may be dedicated as an uplink port or
have a switch to make it such, that would be connected to the other
device by a straight through lead as the uplink port is reversed
already.

so its device specific - sorry
