Can someone help me i can't wait for the playstation 3 release because
i will have to use hdtv (big one 1080p) i cant take it downstairs like
my ps2 and 20 inch tv to my internet connection so i will need a router
but i was wondering if i switch my computer (main) off will i lose my
settings and connection because the pc overheats its pointless leaving
it on. The usb internet devices you plug into your pc obviously lose
the connection when the pc is off so can someone help me on that.
And the 60gig version of the ps3 has wifi so i was wondering how do you
connect- passing the security features.

A router saves its own configuration in flash ram, so no you will not lose
any settings. Just make sure you use it on ethernet connection and not USB,
because USB is a stupid, slow way to connect a router.
BTW your text is poorly written and very hard to understand.

I think I should also point out that the way to use a router is to leave it
connected all the time, that way you have an always on connection ie as
soon as your pc boots you are on line.

HTH

connection while keeping my cable modem and router on.

No, as I said before once you have setup a router it retains its settings
even if you switch it off. But a router is designed to stay connected and
powered up 24/7. The router does the sign on to the ISP for you so even if
you turn off your pc your broadband connection is still up and connected
because you leave the router on. Then when you next boot your pc the
broadband is ready and waiting. No silly puesdo ' dialup' like a USB modem.
USB modems, especially broadband ones are the spawn of the devil.
Hope that is clear now.
