router keeps disconnecting while downloading

I have a bt voyager 210 router which has suddenly started disconnecting from
the internet when I am downloading large files, I turn the router off and
back on again and it will start downloading again for a while then
disconnect again

It seems ok when I am just surfing
Have checked all the connections and settings, also checked for viruses

Anyone have any ideas

downloading large files via http, ftp or peer2peer? if the latter i think
the dns server is getting swamped, assign dns lookup addresses in windows
instead of the router...works for me.
