router firewall

I bought a Belkin router with my XP SP2 system. It does not permit Skype
to work unless I disable the router firewall. Belkin does not understand
the reason. They suggested I take my old Netgear router and hook it up
before the Belkin as a firewall, and disable the Belkin firewall. I
tried this, but got no Internet connection, even after rebooting the
computer. Any suggestions? Thanks.
