I have a Linksys 4 port router (BEFSR41) connecting a desktop in my office,
a desktop in my sons room and a laptop elsewhere in the house. This is all
by rj45 cable. My son has an XBOX that he wants to connect to the internet.
I don't want to run another cable to his room. Is there any way to connect
his computer AND XBOX to the same RJ45 cable? I assume I can connect the one
he is using and then when he switched to the other device (computer or XBOX)
connect that one. WHat do I need to augment the setup I have?
Thanks for any advice.
Keith

Just buy an inexpensive switch such as

http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/Produc...uctCode=252239

$39.

You plug the cable from the wall jack into the uplink port on the switch.
Now your son has 5, count'em 5, jacks in his room.

Literally that is all you have to do. The router will happily support all
five connections.
