Hi
I'm on my 2nd replacement router from Belkin (Wireless, built in ADSL
modem) and around the same time each day (4pm) it stops responding to
everything, even pings. It is still detectable through wireless, that buts
about it. It needs to be switched off for about 5 minutes and then switched
back on. Ocasionally it will freeze again within the next 30 minutes but
usually lasts another 24 hours. It is getting quite warm, could this be a
overheating problem?

Disconnect all your computers from the router at 3PM, and disconnect the
wireless antennas (or turn off wireless).
Plug back in at 5PM.
Might something your comptuer is doiung at 4PM be causeing the problem

could be, jack it up off the shelf to let some air circulate, or put
it on the window ledge.

It doesn't do anything routine like updating filter software daily or
anything like that at this time of day does it ?

you don't have an industrial unit nearby, or something in the house that
might cause a 'spike' on the mains ? Seems odd if it happens to even a
second replacement unit... I'd guess a problem in your house... Peter

My US Robotics did that, turned out to be the PSU was dodgy. USR sent
me a new one FOC.

Otherwise, what is happening in your house at 4pm that would fry a
router - power surge of some sort?

Do you have a home alarm system that maybe dials out every 24 hours?
