I have Routed-Subnet

Default Gateway 62.58.29.185
Subnet Mask 255.255.255.248

Public address 1
62.58.29.186

Public address 2
62.58.29.187

Local Network

Server1 address
145.31.22.253
Subnet Mask
255.255.252.0
Default Gateway
62.58.29.185

Server2 address
145.31.22.251
Subnet Mask
255.255.252.0
Default Gateway
62.58.29.185

Configuration:
ADSL modem connected to a Internet-network switch.
2 10/100 NIC's on every server.
1 to the ADSL network switch and
1 to the Local-network switch.

Both Servers are not reachable from local network and
With remote desktop connection I get an error RPC server i
unavailble.

Do I really need 2 Routers ?.

Can anybody help me
Thanks for your input.

Regards, WisseC

is 145.31.22.253 your LAN IP address? Assuming both 145.31.22.253 and 145.31.22.251 are in the same subnet, can they ping each other?

Robert,

Yes:
145.31.22.253 is the LAN IP address of Server 1
145.31.22.251 is the LAN IP address of Server 2
Both are in the same subnet, I can ping each other from ever
workstation
The problem maybe the two NIC's and different subnets ?
255.255.255.248
255.255.252.0

I can now logon on 145.31.22.253 ( Terminal Services port 3389 ) wit
the NIC to the
WAN 62.58.29.186 disconnected.

My regards
WisseC

Are the two servers with the dual NICs domain controllers?

The issue comes down to multiple NICs registering their names and IPs in DNS
and possible name concflicts with the two NICs, giving two IPs, but the
server has one name. When there are multiple NICs on a DC, the issue gets
worse because of these multi resource records and there is a series of steps
I can post to straighten it out, but don't really recommend it. That is for
a DC. For a member server, and it's being used as an RDP server, you will
still need to do some changes on it. Sometimes it's just easier to single
NIC it and allow traffic to flow thru your infrastructure.

As far as two routers? You mean these two machines? You mean the are
connected to the ADSL modem and offering NAT for your network? If so, I
would suggest to get an inexpensive Linksys to take care of that and remove
the extra NICs on the machines.

I'm not sure why you want to connect both with two separate Internet DSL
lines unless you want to have both servers accessible for incoming RDP. Is
that what your intentions are? If so, I would probably get a router that can
handle multiple WAN IP addresses and an ISP to give you multiple IPs.
Multiple DSL lines is a little difficult to deal with, especially with
multiple gateways. I would say no, you do not need multiple routers or DSL
modems. Just one.

For the RPC not found thing, it depends on how you are connecting, via
single NetBIOS name or FQDN. I assume you can connect via IP, but not by
name?
