There is a decent guide from Microsoft that I used when configuring roaming
profiles for Vista. If you google the title "Managing Roaming User Data
Deployment Guide" it should be one of the top links.
Vista will maintain the same redirected folders as XP (although you can
redirect additional folders under Vista). However the user profile is stored
in a seperate location called [profile name] .v2. Within the profile is a
file called ntuser.dat which basically is a set of the HKEY_USERS registry
settings for that user. This is then loaded ontop of the default HKEY_USERS
registry setting when the user logs on.
We don't run proxy servers here, but if the Internet Explorer proxy settings
are stored within the HKEY_USERS registry key, then I imagine you will need
to set them up again whenever a user first logs onto Vista - since that user
will have a ntuser.dat file within their XP profile, and an ntuser.dat file
within their Vista profile.
I'd recommend you read the Microsoft guide as it will give you a much better
understanding of the way in which profiles work within Vista.
