RJ11 Wiring

Hi,

I have a question about RJ11 socket

I have bought a clarity filtered faceplate for my BT master box which has
terminals marked A and B
I have also got a RJ11 Socket - the RJ11 Socket has terminals labelled 1-6
(bizzare as RJ11 wires only have 4 cables)

Which connectors should A and B link to in the RJ11 socket?

The middle two - so that's 3&4 on a scale of 1-6! Polarity immaterial.

nope, its 2 and 5, it goes kinda like this

1 4
2 5
3 6

doesnt really matter how it is placed, its definatly 2 and 5

2 should be the A leg, but like jim said its imaterial

I've just buzzed out a spare BT master socket.

A <--> 5
B <--> 2

Since the incoming twin can be wired either way round, this is just my
pedantry.

BT do use 2 and 5 out of 6 ie not the middle two but the RJ11 signal
*is* conventionally on the middle 2 which are correctly termed 3&4 on
the RJ11 (which is a 6 pin capable plug for 3 line phones) or pins 4&5
on an RJ45 . Numbered from left looking into socket with connectors
uppermost.

That is correct for the BT socket pinout but you have misunderstood the
question.
The OP has a filtered faceplate with a separate RJ11 unfiltered ADSL socket
adjacent to the BT socket.
The RJ11 has the center two pins wired (3&4).

I have connected A - in Master Box >> 3 in RJ11
and B - Master Box >> 4 in RJ11

and all is working tickedy-boo (that means well)
