I received this same error on our W2K RIS server and was able to get
around it. I created a base WinXP RIS image using our volume license
CD, but could not upload any images to the server. I then downloaded
SP1 for WinXP, extracted the files, and ran Update.exe from the update
folder with the /s switch followed by the location of my original
WinXP base RIS image; run update.exe /? from a DOS prompt for a full
explanation. It updates the base image I386 folder with the SP1 files
and drivers, and now it works.
