I am having failure to log downloads from
my vsftp server on RH9. Any suggestions?
I have set xferlog_enable=YES.

Thanks in advance.
Mike.

What about these options?

# Activate logging of uploads/downloads.
xferlog_enable=YES
#
# Make sure PORT transfer connections originate from port 20 (ftp-data).
connect_from_port_20=YES
#

#
# You may override where the log file goes if you like. The default is shown
# below.
#xferlog_file=/var/log/vsftpd.log
#
# If you want, you can have your log file in standard ftpd xferlog format
xferlog_std_format=YES

Are these set as well?

All of these are set. I forgot to mention that the failure is
occasional. I do sometimes get a log entry for a transfer.

Tell ya what, I ain't too keen on the vsftpd logs. I don't beleive they even
register untill the transfer is completed. Do you think that maybe the
transfers that did not log are incomplete?

I have one carefully verified case in which a file whose length
is about 3.5 meg and was completely transferred, but there was
no log entry. I have several others that probably also failed
in this way.

I don't know anymore tips to help you with Mike. Mine seems to work okay but
there really isn't much detail in these logs. Just completed uploads and
downloads, not much else and not very impressive. At least the xferlog with
wuftp used to give more detail. vsftpd is good I guess but it doesn't seem to
give very detailed logs for me and stuff like ftpwho doesn't work with it
either.
