Arrrrgh.....
OK I have bought an Avaya RG-1 wich is the same as an RG-1000.
I want it to be my wireless Dial-up gateway to the Internet as I can't
get a phone line to where my computer needs to be!
For some entirely obscure reason the guy I bought it off had no problems
with it doing the same thing (except he was using a DSL modem plugged
in the Ethernet port!) I saw the thing working on Windows 2000 so
things should have been smooth!
I can't get the RG or AP Manager software to find the device but luckily
Freebase will connect to it when I tell it the IP address.
I have got it to the point where it is dialing my ISP and has populated
the DNS entries in the RG-1000. The AirportModemUtility.jar program
tells me that the RG-1000 is connected and my ISP logs confirm the
connection! SO I know that bit is working.
The problem is that I still can't broswe the Internet :-(
On my machine (Win 2000) an ipconfig /all gives
Ethernet adapter NetGear Wireless:
Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : iprimus.com.au
Description . . . . . . . . . . . : NETGEAR WG311 802.11g
Wireless PCI Adapter
Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00-09-5B-84-D7-C6
DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : Yes
Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes
IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 10.0.1.10
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . :
DHCP Server . . . . . . . . . . . : 10.0.1.1
DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : xxx.yyy.aaa.bbb
xxx.yyy.aaa.bbb
I blanked the DNS entries out but they are correct for my ISP. The
suspicious thing is that I don't get allocated a Default Gateway.... I
put a manual one in 10.0.1.1 but still no joy!
I also have NAT Forwarding turned off, but turning it on only changed
the DHCP Server address to that of my ISP.
So what have I done wrong?
Any thoughts? Example config files, etc........

Jason Wilk
