I've been running IAS on our W2k server for years without any problems. I
upgraded to Windows 2003 on this server, but when it came up the IAS server
would not start. After I uninstalled and reinstalled IAS on the 2003 server
I restored the dnary.mdb and ias.mdb files to the c:\winnt\system32\ias
directory. The IAS server starts now, but quickly shuts down.
Here is the error message:

Event ID: 7023
The Internet Authentication Service service terminated with the following
error:
One or more arguments are invalid

How can I get my existing settings from Wk2 server IAS settings over to 2003?
Carlton.

The problem is that the IAS database format is different between Win2k and
Win2k3. What I did was load up a Win2k VM, install IAS, load the config
from my production W2k server (via netsh), performed in in-place upgrade of
the VM to Win2k3ee, dumped the upgraded IAS db via netsh and loaded it on
the real W2k3ee IAS server.

HTH,

Wayne,
Thanks for the tip. I think I'll try it on a spare server and see what
happens.
