OK, i have a Linux box. We have a Windows 2003 DNS/Wins/DHCP server. I
can resolve any of the Windows boxes from the Linux box. I can not
resolve the Linux name from any windows PC. The Linux box has a DNS IP
address. So then I load samba. Using WINS I can let the Windows PCS
see the Linux box. But we are trying to basicaly remove WINS
altogether from our netowkr (slowly). We dont want to rely on it at
all.
Any ideas on how to get the Linux boxes' host name to be resolvable
through DNS only, without WINS?
Thanks!

I thought that Samba still required a Wins server for SMB traffic, even
though Windows 2K and above don't.
