Hi all!

I just bougth on Ebay an used SMC Access Point (SMC2755W).

It was previously configured by someone, and so I don't know the IP
address and probably the Login and password have been changed from
defaults.

I tried to press the reset button on the rear of the unit, the Access
Point seems to reboot, but the factory defaults are not restored. I
tried to press it for more than 5 seconds, but with the same results.

I can say the factory default settings are not restored because:
1) The SSID is not restored to the default (should be "ANY", and it's
still "Imperial Airport")
2) The IP address is still unknown (it should be 192.168.1.20 as
default)

Any suggestion?

bye

Well, www.smc.com appears to be off-the-air at this moment, but I bet you can
pull a user's manual from there for your SMC2755W.

In the meantime, try holding the reset button in for a solid 60 seconds to
restore the factory defaults. On many routers, a "short" button press will
simply reset the router if it hangs, but the actual settings won't be changed.

My Linksys router requires a full 30-seconds holding the button down to
restore the factory default settings and password...

If it's the same as the other SMC router products, you have to:

1. Disconnect the power
2. Keep the reset button pressed
3. Then reconnect the power and release the reset button only after
the lights in the front flash in some sort of pattern. This should
happen in about 10 seconds after powering up the device.
