Requisite line stats for plus 2 Meg

I've currently got 2 Meg ADSL from Zen, it's steady as a rock. Zen
have announced that they will be trialing 4 & 8 Meg. What kind of line
attenuation would be needed to receive these speeds? My router
currently states that my line attenuation is 39db.

Don't worry so much about atten, check your S/N.
You need 10dB to be solid
You lose 6dB[1] per doubling of speed.

Got enough S/N left ??

[1](about that anyway, some say 4 but only on very good lines already)

Just, I think, for 4 Meg. I watched it for a couple of minutes and the
figure fluctuated between 16-22db.
