At this page
http://www.favicon.com/#1-1
I read the following:

"What is a favicon?
A Favicon is a multi-resolution image included on nearly all
professional developed sites. The Favicon allows the webmaster to
further promote their site, and to create a more customized appearance
within a visitorıs browser. Often, the Favicon reflects the look and
feel of the web site or the organizationıs logo."

Do others see those strange ı characters instead of apostrophes
please? Or is it maybe something odd with my setup here? (Last night I
switched from MSIE6 to Firefox.)

Yep. It appears to be in the source (at least, a check using wget suggests
this is the case).

Everyone must see it - it is in the source code!

Except baron! <g>

Yes, I'm sure you're right. I was thinking vaguely about possible
encoding incompatibilities. I occasionally see drop-down boxes
inviting me to use ASCII/DOS/Unicode/UFT/and other strange stuff,
which I promptly ignore, and I thought maybe that sort of thing could
have caused it, or some Windows v Linux or other obscure issue.

Actually, running links (a text mode web browser) on my GNU/Linux console
shows superscript 2 instead of accented y, so it's quite possible that
some people see it as the author intended and others don't. The character
isn't part of the (7 bit) ASCII character set so technically I believe
it's an invalid character in an HTML page - the author should have used
one of the &nn; sequences to specify a precise character visual.
