I bought a new P4 2.6GHz computer and try to install
Windows 98 on it. But the following error was displayed :

While initializing device NDIS: Windows protection error

So I cannot complete the installation. This problem is
addressed in Microsoft Knowledge Base Articles-312108 :

"Windows Protection Error in NDIS with a CPU That Is
Faster Than 2.1 GHz"

The article says a fix is available from Microsoft. Since
I cannot complete the OS installation, I cannot use the
Windows Update to apply the fix. Could somebody email me
the fix ? I may be able to apply the fix in SAFE Mode.

Thank for any advice.

You must do as Microsoft instructs and call for the fix. It is not
available by any other means.

Read it all first. If it's what you are looking for there's a download
link at the end of the page.

Jim.
