Hi,
Have you tried siezing the roles as per the MS article
http://support.microsoft.com/default...uct=winsvr2003
?!?!?
You're right in getting the back end windows services working first. Don't
even think about installing exchange when you've got any errors in any of
the event logs.
Follow the above guide, to get the roles onto the w2k3 box, then reboot both
machines and check for any errors in the event logs and check DNS
connectivity.
