My Voyager 205 as supplied by Plusnet is on the blink. Shoul I get
another or is there something better on the market n

Do you use Ethernet or usb?
Do you want wireless capability?
How much you want to spend?

When you say 'quality before price', you wouldn't flinch at spending
several hundred on a commercial grade rock solid fantastic bit of kit?

You must ahve some sort of budget?

i bought a netgear dg834gt branded as sky on ebay for £8 + postage, then
reflashed to netgear firmware. so far i am very happy with it, no stability
issues, good sync speed etc..
