Hello

I am currently changing from Windows to Linux 2.4. Almost everything works
fine so far.
I have a "Watchguard Mobile User VPN 6.1.1" VPN Client running under Windows
to
connect to my office over an internet connection. Is there a chance to
replace this piece
of software with a linux based solution?
Any Experience, Suggestions ?

Regards

Boris

How about using pptp?

first, add your username and password into /etc/ppp/pap-secrets

username * password *

second,
route add -host vpn.xxx.com gw xxx.xxx.xxx.254
where xxx.xxx.xxx.254 is your default gateway

then run
pptp vpn.xxx.com name 'username' noauth nodeflate nobsdcomp noccp

see if there's an network interface ppp0 up with intranet IP.

I use OpenVPN, and there is a Windows version as well, but I haven't tried
it.

I have (and do). In fact I have an OpenVPN network that connects three
networks of GNU/Linux and Windows machines, a Mac, a Windows PC, and a
GNU/Linux PC together all seamlessly.

The Windows version works as well as the GNU/Linux based implementation,
but read the documentation for the Windows specific options, as they're
really quite useful to have.

The real key is not finding another VPN solution that runs on Linux
(there are several, including OpenVPN and FreeS/WAN), but finding a VPN
solution that will connect to your WatchGuard Firebox. The Firebox
supports PPTP, and someone else in this thread suggested PPTP as well,
so that's probably your best approach. If you aren't the administrator
of that WatchGuard Firebox, however, you'll need to work with the
administrator to enable and configure PPTP appropriately.

Best of luck.
