Replace old box with new with same name and IP

I wasn't exactly sure what newsgroup to post this in. Hopefully, this one
will be ok. Let me know if not.

I attempted to replace a Windows NT server with a Windows 2000 server with
the same name and IP. Both, name and IP must be the same. The box is used as
a front end IIS for a UNIX database. The transition, for the most part ,went
well but the new box isn't talking to the UNIX 100%.

I'm assuming I missed a step somewhere along the line. Is it possible to
manually remove any/all instances that my be pointing back to the old box in
a table, AD, DNS, WINS, HOSTS, LMHOSTS file? ..I'm reaching here...

Our DC and BDC are running 2000 server.

Just a reminder, the new and old names of the box must be the same.

to the group.
