Texas Rep. Pete Sessions - a former
SBC employee with a financial stake in the company -
is trying to pass a law that would ban towns and
cities from wiring themselves for broadband.
Now Senators John McCain and Frank Lautenberg
are set to propose the "Community Broadband Act of 2005"
as a polar opposite.

The act doesn't advocate municipal broadband,
but it does protect a town or city's right to
explore the option.

Between Wildblue and 900 Mhz wireless access and cell phone companies
high speed access is already there. Look for interesting things between
ANPI and NRTC getting together
