Can I rename a shared folder and not mess anything up?
Its really simple.
accounting to Accounting
marketing to Marketing
Or will capitolizing the first letter still mess things up?
I should also mention these folders are mapped from the server to a spicific
drive.
Meaning accounting is K: drive marketing is M: drive on the client computers.

Thank
Windows Small Business Server 2003

That doesn't count as "renaming".

You need to get rid of mapped drives and start using UNC Pathes with Windows
"Shortcuts".

I'm still a newbie so forgive me

Are you refering to:
\\server\public\accounting
\\server\public\marketing

Now there is a login script to add M: drive as \\server\public\marketing

So all I want to know is it ok to rename marketing to Marketing

Yes. Those are UNC Pathes. You can create Shortcuts to them and place the
Shortcut wherever is usefull. For example, placing it on the user's desktop or
in the users "My Documents" makes the network resource "appear" to be just
another Folder at that location.

I think it will be fine since the spelling isn't being changed. Just record the
permissions settings first so you can rebuild them if you have to, and try it on
just one share first. The worst that will happen is that you will have to
recreate the Share and the Share Permissions,...the NTFS Permissions are
separate and won't be bothered.
