Hi all

Just wondering if anyone could tell me how I can stop the following message
from appearing when
users on a client pc running windows 98 SE log on to the 200x domain (had
the same thing appear
on the NT domain too):

..---------------------------------------------------------------------------
-----.
| Windows Networking
|
|---------------------------------------------------------------------------
------
| You have not logged on at this computer before. Would you like this
computer |
| to retain your individual settings for use when you log on here in the
future? |
|
| Yes No
'---------------------------------------------------------------------------
-----'

At first, users would choose Yes but had problems with a few programs inc
Office 2k
so now tell people to choose No and the programs run fine.

Is there any way I can get it to stop asking this question when a user logs
on?
I've set up in the login script a profile cleaning process (in case they do
say Yes
by accident) but this isnt ideal

Is there something in the poledit.exe program (Policy Editor used for
creating the config.pol for
9x clients by way of "limited administrative templates") or the .adm
templates that I can
use/add/enable for this to work?

Any thoughts and suggestions would be most welcome.

Regards,
N.

The only way I know is to click yes, as then it will have the profiles
created, so it won't ask anymore. What sort of problems did you have with
your programs? Rather sort those out than trying to use a workaround. With
Office 2000 it asks if you want to keep the install files or delete them.
If you keep them it helps with creating new profiles.

Hi Steven

Thanks for the response.

Its been so long since we used "Yes" that I can't remember them - but I know
I don't
want them again.

I remember that shortcut problems where one of them - clicking 'Yes'
wouldn't give you
the "set" list of shortcuts i.e. Start Menu shortcuts for the user group
UsersA1, whereas
clicking 'No' would.

Most of it worked best by clicking 'No' so really I do need to get rid of
the requester
if anyone knows how...if it cant be done then never mind - no probs.

Regards

It's been a log time since I even seen Win98, but there is a Users section
somwhere where you must specify that it is to use the same profile for all
users. That is the default, but somewhere along the way you may have changed
that so that is wants to create a profile for each user.
