I had someone to attempt to install Windows XP Home
Edition on a computer that has Windows ME on it. Sometime
during the install, there was an error message stating
that they did not have enough spact to complete the
install. They were attempting to create a 2nd partition
with XP on it. I don't think that they really wanted a
dual boot system but that is what they achieved. The
problem with this is that the person who started the
install did not finish it and now the computer prompts
for the dual boot process. When I choose Windows XP, the
computer continues witj install process of XP. This is
without the disk being in the drive. When I choose
Windows ME, the system boots into ME perfectly. The
individual wants the XP option removed so that there is
only ME on the machine. How do I go about doing this? Do
I start the XP install and then cancel it so that it can
clean up behind itself or do I do something else. Email
me and let me know. Thanks.

The fast way to fix this problem is to get a WindowsMe boot diskette (do NOT
try to substitute any other, it must be a genuine WindowsMe boot diskette),
start the system up, and when you reach the DOS prompt (A:\>) type the
following and press Enter:

SYS C:

Then remove the diskette and restart the computer. Then have "someone"
remove the Windows XP mess they left behind.
