I have a single computer at home. It has windows 98 v4.10
it was partially set up as being on a network. a lot of
system features give errors. Is there a way to remove the
network enviornment ? i am afraid if i try to upgrade to a
newer windows version it will keep this enviornment.
I do not want to be network involved.
Suggestions please !!

Debbie

Dear Debbie;
Go to your win start button then select and click control
panel. Now inside control panel select and double click
Network. now delete all network devices. Next and finial
phase close these windows out without rebooting .
Next click win start button then select click on run they
type sysedit
now this is hard part ....
in side one mini window it be label as
AUTOEXEC /AUTOEXEC.BAT
DELETE ONLY NETWORK SETTTING IN THIS AREA.If you dont know
which this is I'd refer you to a batch referance in
windows help option you will also need to change the mini
window Labeled / titled CONFIG / CONFIG.SYS
same way as above but with referance in windows help under
config.sys editing

What error messages are you getting, specifically?

If you zap everything to do with networking then you won't be able to
connect it to the Internet either. Is that what you really want?

Jim.
